Questions, answered
What is the Ronana AI Free Upscaler?
It is a free upscaler built on Anime4K, an open-source algorithm designed for animation. It doubles the resolution of a video or image, sharpening lines and cleaning up soft edges. Unlike the other models on Ronana, it does not run on a provider's servers — it runs on your own machine.
How do I use the free upscaler?
Open the Upscale page, drop in a video or image, and run it. There is no prompt to write and nothing to configure. When it finishes you get a before and after slider so you can drag across the frame and compare, then download the result.
Is it really free?
Yes, and it stays free no matter how much you use it. It costs no credits and needs no subscription, because the work happens on your device instead of on hardware we pay for. A free Ronana account with a verified email is all you need.
What does it work best on?
Anime, cartoons, line art, and clean graphics — that is what Anime4K was built for, and it is where the difference is most obvious. It also works on live-action footage, but for camera video the paid cloud upscalers recover detail that this one cannot.
How much bigger does it make my video?
2x on each side, so a 1080p clip comes out at 4K and a 720p clip comes out at 1440p. The result keeps the original aspect ratio and frame rate.
Does my video get uploaded anywhere?
No. The upscaling happens inside your browser using your own graphics card, so the file never leaves your device to be processed. That is also why it costs nothing to run.
